Keeping Your Vision in View

Myopia, or nearsightedness, prevents you from seeing distant objects clearly, making it difficult to drive or read the whiteboard at school.

Myopia affects nearly 30% of the US population and is usually inherited from one or both parents. However, there are other factors besides genetics that can increase a patient’s chance of developing myopia.

Safeguard Your Vision with Myopia Control

To help slow the progression of myopia and to help keep your prescription low, we offer a variety of myopia control strategies. Glasses or contact lenses can help you see clearly, but are not specifically designed to correct the issue.

To help preserve your vision, we can sit down with you and craft a myopia management strategy tailored to you during your next eye exam.

CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) lenses are corneal reshaping contact lenses that are similar to Ortho-K lenses and can be a good myopia control option for some patients.

RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) lenses are made of rigid plastic and are more durable than soft lenses. They are used in a variety of treatments for various conditions.

A 2004 study has shown that RGP can slow the progression of myopia in some children.

If you are curious about myopia control for you or your child, please request an appointment so we can evaluate your unique situation.
